Rev. Luther Gillespie
April 21, 1933 - October 19, 2004

Luther was a twin and had one older brother as well. Luther graduated high school and served in the army during the Korean Conflict. Following that he attended the American Institute of Banking and spent many years in banking. From early childhood Luther wanted to be a minister, but did not believe his family would take him seriously. In the mid 1980's he was working with a Pavillion, a treatment center in Montreal as the Placement Director. This was in affiliation with the Church of Today in Warren, Michigan.

In the early 1990's he began to attend a Divine Science Church in Birmingham Michigan where Rev Frank Glabach was the minister. Rev. Frank mentored him in his ministerial studies and in 1996 he was ordained by Rev. William Trainor of Brooks Divinity School. Rev. Luther met his wife, Cora, in 1995 and married in 1996. In 1996 he also received his license to practice substance abuse counseling in the state of Michigan.

Rev Luther had a radio program "Luther's Quest" which was focused on spiritual recovery from self defeating behaviors. Rev Luther and his wife, Cora, co-founded AspenWood Counseling Services in 1997 which is now closed. He founded the AspenWood Church in 1998, where he taught Divine Science principle through Sunday lessons and lessons on Wednesday evenings. He had a very active ministry in officiating weddings, christenings and funerals.

In 2003, at the age 70 Luther decided he wanted to go to college and began studying at Rochester Christian College, taking a degree in psychology, which he did not get to complete. Rev Luther served enthusiastically on the Board of Directors as Vice President for the Divine Science Ministers' Association from 2001- Oct. 19, 2004. We know that Luther continues to shine even more brightly now, in his blessing in eternal life
